The clock shows that we have 6 minutes and 47 seconds left until launch. The clock also shows that we only have 11 minutes and 20 seconds in the 'launch window'. This means that if bad weather comes around or if a technical problem occurs, there will be only about an extra five minutes to resolve the problem before the launch is aborted. The space shuttle must launch within this window of opportunity in order to be in the right place in outer space to be able to dock with the International Space Station.
