I used to work at the historical many years ago. The
"original" Monument Inn restaurant burned down in 1990 - I'm the only person in
the world that knows the real reason why it burned down. I'll have to write up
that story some day when I get the opportunity. After it burned down the
restaurant opened at a new location just down the road. I continued to work
there for a while longer before moving on to my dream career.
...but this story isn't about any of that. I'm still friends with what I call
the "real owner" of that restaurant (the manager who has been working there for
at least 40 years now). My friend Rob had given us a gift certificate to come
and visit him again at the restaurant and so we did. The food there is still the
best.
