During our first night here I was awed by the amount of stars I could see and the detail of the Milky Way crossing the sky. It was so clear when the sun first went down. As the evening progressed, I was a bit miffed about this bright light that was showing up over the far ridge ruining what I might see if it wasn't there. I thought at first that it must be the city lights of Leakey, but figured that such a little town wouldn't have that much light. I then started thinking that maybe the light was from Austin, but Austin was just too far away. After a short period, the full moon started popping up and I realized that the light wasn't from any steenking city lights, but was from our moon emerging from over the far bluff across the river. It was a beautiful thing to watch the moon rise and glitter itself over the river. We had made the right choice to get this place.
