Night falls and I notice a bunch of clouds rolling in from the west along with some lightning in the distance. This looks like trouble so I prepare the tent with the rain cover and put up any gear that might get messed up just in case it rains. It was a good call because not too much later a big lightning storm comes through and forces us to bunker down in the tent while the rain comes through our area. When the rain slacks off I go outside to take this picture. It was pitch black with no moon. So why is it so light out? This was the light from one of many lightning strikes that were happening all around us. Imagine some deafening "Booms" along with this and you might be able to picture what was going on. This flash was one of many that occurred every 30 seconds or so for several hours. In between flashes the night was as black as... well, black as night!
