I try to dig them up as I see them or if I'm being a little lazy at least chop off the purple flowers before they mature. The goal is to prevent them from getting to this stage where they spread their seeds to make lots more. There used to be thousands of these on my lot, but now with this little bit of work each year there are just a few to tend to here and there.
