I'm not a geologist, but it looks like this big rock is really just a bunch of smaller rocks that have been cemented together over time. Maybe this big rock was a part of a lake bottom or something where all the rocks, mud, and sediment were collected and pressed together and are now exposed for me to poke around at today.
