A mockup of the Zarya module, the first module of the space station, in the Russian space agency facility where we performed our initial tests of the computer network to be deployed on the International Space Station (ISS). One of the first crew members of the ISS (Sergei Krikolev) was doing a simulated stay here in preparation for his visit to the ISS and offered me some of his "space bread" while I was doing my tests. This allows me to say that I actually had lunch with the first cosmonaut crew member of the International Space Station on the space station. I was a real astronaut for a brief period of time. It was a memorable lunch for sure! |
