Our Russian colleague had many stories to tell about each of the grave sites and seemed to be well knowledged on the history of each person. I got the idea that they had never been here themselves, but knew much history about each person here. I must say that I have failed to remember their stories, but wish that I had. History seems to be an important part of Russian culture. We Americans typically can quote a few high level details of some of our famous historical figures, but our guides seemed to know and shared intimate details about each of the people buried in this place.
