Hurricane Harvey

August 2017

A category 3 hurricane called Harvey came to our area at the end of August 2017. I've been through a few hurricanes before, but this Harvey was quite unique. The "normal" hurricanes that I had been through would have high wind and some rain. Harvey blew through with what seemed to be just a little wind and rain on the first day, but then stayed for several days dumping about 50 inches of rain in about a three day period. It was the rain that filled our roads and eventually our houses. I watched a tornado blow overhead the second day and was nearly suffocated by a chemical leak in the area on the third day. I was quite relieved when Harvey finally left us a few days later. Harvey was by far the worst storm I had ever been in.
