October 2004
This particular trip was by far one of the more interesting trips Cyndi and I had taken. We decided that while we were down here this time we would drive around to some of the places around that we hadn't yet ventured to. We crossed some river streams and such that eventually took its toll on our poor truck. As we were leaving the property on our final day, an A frame bolt on the truck broke causing the tire to tilt (although we weren't fully aware of the extent of the damage at that time). We made some quick repairs and thought we could tough it out. On the way out of the land, we decided to take a scenic route up through the mountains (yeah... that was smart). At the worst possible place, the bolt completely fell off and the tire decided that it would fall off too. We got lucky and had a passer by stop and lend us a cell phone to call AAA. Triple A sent us out a tow truck and we spent an extra few days in Uvalde while the truck got repaired. We rented another truck while we waited and took advantage of the situation to visit Garner State park and drive around to some surrounding towns.
