November 2005
Cyndi's daughter, Ashley, has been visiting us for the past few weeks and we make a plan to head out to the river just after Thanksgiving. The news indicates that a strong line of thunderstorms is moving across Texas and will cross through the hill country on Friday night with nothing but clear skies just behind the squall. We decide to head on out on Friday with plans to find a hotel room on the way to wait for the rain to pass and then complete our trip early Saturday morning. We start out mid Friday afternoon and get to our gas refill place in Hondo just after sunset and decide to make a stay at a local hotel there in town. The news was correct, a severe thunderstorm came through that night and we finished off our trip at the river with nothing but clear blue skies. Cyndi, Ashley, and I had all just come down with a case of the flu which put a slight damper on the trip, but I'm glad that Ashley could see this wonderful place and look forward to her going out there again when we aren't all so sniffly and coughy.
