A little bit of paradise!

July 2007

On June 26 a flash flood brought the river to more than 18' at the gauge site. Reports from the neighbors said the Rancho Real subdivision where my place is was hit especially hard by the flood. We had been planning a family outing to the river for July 4th and I wanted to see what the flood had done, but bad storms were all about in central and west Texas. Most of Texas was under a flash flood watch. Ashley and Mike said they were wanted to go and didn't care about whether or not it would rain. I didn't pack the truck the night before like I usually do because of the bad weather, but in the morning I decided we would go for the gusto and head out to the river anyway even though the NOAA weather site was reporting 90% chance of heavy rains and a flash flood watch for that area. This is one time I should have taken heed to the weather warnings and just stayed home.
