Post Hurricane Ike - Along the Coast

January 2009

Many of the images of Ike's devastation from the news were recorded along the coast on the Bolivar peninsula. This place was totally destroyed and changed as a result of the storm. I had intended on going there at some point and today was the day. Cyndi and I had tried to get on the peninsula using the ferry from Galveston back in November, but the ferry was open only to emergency and debris clean up vehicles even though it had been months after the storm. Today I took a trip through High Island, and then along the coast to Gilchrist, Crystal Beach, and Port Bolivar. My eyes captured much more than my camera, but these are the images I took on my venture today.
