We eventually got to I-45 the next day and the traffic got a bit thinner when they opened all lanes going north including what is normally inbound traffic. These cars on the left are the first to go on the other lanes. I told Cyndi that I wouldn't want to be one of the first in that lane just in case someone happened to be coming from the opposite direction. About 5 minutes after taking this picture, both lanes came to a complete halt. We were just at the top of the hill there in the distance and could see that sure enough a head on collision had occurred in the lanes to the left. Stopping for gas later we waited in a line of about 10 cars to get to our pump. I was pumping gas when the person at the pump in front of me finished and drove away. A young girl came screeching in to block me in between the cars behind me and her car. I told her that I couldn't get out and that the line of cars behind me were waiting for gas. She said "I'm sorry, but I have get gas NOW!" Other cars saw her and got in line behind her making two lines of cars going each way with me blocked in the middle. Her mother had done the same thing to the pump line next to us and quickly ran over to start pumping gas in the girl's car while I was fussing at her. I told the attendant what was happening and he turned off the pumps and made her move over to a policeman waiting on the side and told her she and her mother were going to be fined for their actions. A crisis sure makes people do things that they shouldn't do.
